Who: Roger Weaver, clerk at the Hyatt House hotel downtown
First Report: Sept. 18, 1984
What he said: Weaver said that a man he had seen in the hotel on previous occasions came in about 7 a.m. on Aug. 10, 1984, and went straight to a men's room. Later, after he called a security guard to remove the man, Weaver said, he went into the restroom and spotted pink-colored water spots on a sink basin, which he believed was the result of someone washing blood off of their hands. He said that after washing his own hands, he noticed several hand towels, which appeared to be covered with blood, in the trash container. He reported this information after seeing a picture of Darryl Hunt in the newspaper, and said he believed that Hunt was the man he had seen in the hotel that morning. He told police that he recalled the date of the incident because that morning a security guard had called about two black men hanging around the parking deck.
